EPIC FAIL! HAWK IT IS!

Greetings and Salutations,

So, I've been wanting to try so many different styles with my hair and I didn't find time to tackle them all. Plus, I got my hair trimmed and cut on May 25. Yet, I still wanted to try a style from one of my YouTube favorites: Naptural85.  I tried the No Heat Flexi Rod Set. This seem like a good idea since I just took down my braided updo.  Hope you enjoy! Peace!

HERE IS EVERYTHING I USED ON MY HAIR:

  • Deep Condition with Shea Moisture's Raw Shea Butter Deep Treatment Masque
  • Hot Oil Treatment with my oil mix and Blend Therapy H.O.T. from Alikay Naturals
  • Cowash my hair with As I Am Coconut Cowash
  • Banded my hair
  • Used Flexi Rods 3/4" dia and My Shea Butter Whipped Cream
                                        THE PROCESS
  • After I finished deep conditioning, hot oil treating and cowashing (I will post about my regimen), I sectioned off my hair and begin banded my hair (I will post about banding along with pics).
  • I let my hair air dry until it was like 80% dry or at least my roots were completely dry
  • I took one band down at a time and section of that hair, fingered detangle, smoothing out the hair with a wide tooth comb and smooth out the ends with fine tooth comb.
  • I added a little bit of my SBWC to the hair and begin to roll my hair up on the flexi rods
  • I allowed the rods to set overnight and I took them out in the morning.
                                   THE RESULT.........
  • My hair turn out horrible. I believe I used a little to much of my SBWC and I don't think I used enough hair on each rods. I also didn't have enough rods! UGH!! My hair barely spiral curl, my hair was a little oily and my length seem to shorter. I probably should have used a different sized rods or wait until my hair get longer:(

                                MY FIX TO THIS MESS
  • As I panic to find a solution to this mess.....I went back to good ole YouTube. Soon as I get on there, another one of my favorite YouTube artist: prettydimples01, had a hairstyle that was right on time. The hairstyle was Ponytail Mohawk. My hair isn't as long as hers but I still was able to achieve the hairstyle.
  • I part my hair into the four ponytail (not really good on parting). Using Curls: Goddess Curls Botantical Gel and brush, I smoothed the sides down. I twisted the hair in each ponytail. I pulled all the twist together and clipped them for length. The back two ponytails, I allowed to air dry then unravel the twist. I really didn't like how they look unravel, so I didn't unravel the top or the front. I pinned the back ponytails like a bun and pinned the twist in the top and the from into bantu knot bun.
                                     THE RESULTS.........
  • This hairstyle was a lifesaver! I love it, I love it! I have volume and all. Check out prettydimples01 to see the original style!
